Of course, and curing blindness entirely would be even better.  ;-)

There is just so much that can reasonably be achieved and realistically 
hoped for.

The keyword here is "could".  I really doubt it'll ever happen. Better 
focus on simpler solutions, albeit not perfect, but good enough given 
the available resource pool to make them happen.
