Right now, a driver is unaware if it's being started explicitly or for
autodetection. What are the collective thoughts regarding how this knowledge
should be imparted to the driver. We could add a boolean parameter to its
openg() method. We could add a flags parameter to its open() method with
autodetect being one of the flags. Any other ideas?
What if the HandyTech and/or TSI driver has been explicitly not configured, or
if just the Baum driver has been configured? Should the Baum driver then still
autodetect in place of the omitted drivers?
