Just for fun, please try something really slow like -U100 (which will do one
refresh per second). This way you'll know for sure if the option has taken
effect because brltty will respond with a very noticeable delay. If you notice
this big delay and still have the problem then it's probably not brltty that's
causing the problem.

Do you have the option of trying serial or Bluetooth to see if that makes a
difference?
