You keep a single blank and append the next line to it.  Upon pasting 
into a text editor, the line will be re-wrapped appropriately, which may 
occur on a different boundary.  It is easier to fix inadvertently added 
blank if there is no automatic CR added to the buffer in that case.  
And if you want to preserve the CRs then rectangular copy is there for 
you.
