[BRLTTY] garbage chars as display

You're using the Screen screen driver. What character set is your system 
configured for? Could you let us know what's in your $LANG environment 
variable?

I think it's a problem with the Screen screen driver and not with the braille 
driver.

That's probably because you have your Vario set to the TSI protocol.
