Yes, that's what you need to do. I believe you'll already have a tarball from 
Jason at this point. Also, in case it helps, brltty's source repository can 
also be accessed via http (which should deal with your firewall). The URL is:

   http://mielke.cc/svn/main/brltty

You can give this URL directly to the svn command.

There still isn't enough information. Please also add the -Bdebugreads=yes
