[BRLTTY] Problems with braille and orca

|Hello,

 

I've installed vinux, and hence orca. I've set up a brltty.conf file in the
etc folder. When  boot the computer, a message comes up on the screen
saying:

Not in text mode, and from then on, I've no Braille.

I've only two lines in my config file, one setting the device, and the other
setting the port.

I'd be grateful if someone could suggest where I've gone wrong,
