I agree that the FP's keyboard should show up on the system as a regular HID 
keyboard, but there's a possibility that there's some setting which allows it's 
data to be sent via the braille interface. What settings does the BC640's menu 
have which relate to the FP's keyboard?

Could you also do a test? You'll find this on line 24 of Programs/driver.c:

   static int logInputPackets = 0;

Change 0 to 1, and then rebuild brltty. This will cause input packets from the 
device to be logged. Then invoke brltty with -L/path/to/logfile (the -L is 
uppercase), and press keys on the device. A line which begins with "input 
packet" should show up in the log file for each key you press. You can verify 
this by first pressing navigation keys. Then try pressing keys on the keyboard 
to see if they also generate packets. If you do get packets for the keyboard 
keys, please send us a log which contains them.
