Can you tell me more about your hardware? (Especially braille device, sound
card)

USB detection of braille is done with "hwinfo --braille". If this shows your
braille device, it should automatically work in Adriane.

Which version of Knoppix did you use? 7.0.4?  The dedicated Adriane version?

HDMI connections also cound as "soundcards", but I'm confident that I
disabled these explicitly.

I'm very interested in finding out why it did not work on your Notebook!
