Maybe /sys/kernel/debug isn't mounted on your system. If you have 
/sys/kernel/debug and it's empty, then try to mount it like this:

   mount -t debugfs debugfs /sys/kernel/debug

Perhaps you could also send the output of: lsusb -vv
