I think I finally understand your question. You're asking why I didn't dig in 
and demand that GenToo fix their own problem. The answer is that, once in a 
while, I feel like being nice. We had a user with a problem, and, even though 
the real problem is with GenToo, why not handle it ourselves anyway if we can. 
Also, if one distribution has a problem then it just might be that some others 
do as well.
