[BRLTTY] brltty suddenly wants unpriveledged user

Hi.  Suddenly brltty will not start, it keeps saying it cannot find
the user brltty, but instead of going on to run as root, it keeps
saying the same and will not run.  I have not changed anythingin a
while, I recompiled, but no change.  I cannot use the program at all
as of now.
