Actually, that was a stupid update. It was working properly before. That's what I get for doing too many things at the same time. There's a new commit which reverts this one. :-(

I tested building in a separate tree and it does work. It looks like you're making a copy of the source tree which doesn't include the .git/ subdirectory. This is preventing the getrevid script from being able to figure out the revision string.
