That's always a bad idea, though I can understand you wanting to try it. Please put it bacfk to what it should be - rw-rw---- (so read and write to the brltty user and group, but nothing to others). Your problem is probably the /var/lib/brltty/ directory. If the file doesn't exist then brltty needs to be able to create it.
