Yes.

Note that it says that the user (i.e. you) hasn't given the permission - not
that the app itself doesn't have the permission. Unless something has
changed, you should've gotten a prompt asking you to grant brltty permission
to access the USB device.

Of course, this shouldn't cause a crash. I'll have a look at that.

You are right. There is a notification telling me that a new device is
charging from my phone. When I tap this notification for more info, I get a
screen that gives me the choice of letting the connection being managed by
the remote or by my phone, which defaults to the remote device. However I
cannot change any parameter there.

This is what I get when the Mantis connects, just in case that tells
something:
I'll try on a device with an earlier Android version as well.
