I'm sorry for answering so late. Been away (in the hospital, actually) for a while.

I think I know what the problem might be. Are you able to build your own brltty? Assuming the answer is yes:

Go to Drivers/Braille/FreedomScientific, edit braille.c, and look for this line:

   688: descriptor.bluetooth.channelNumber = 1;

Add this line just under it:

   descriptor.bluetooth.DdiscoverChannel = 1;

Then rebuild and see if the problem goes away.
