I better give a fuller answer to this one as brltty-6.7 doesn't support it yet. Support for the colon delimiter variant was added in a subsequent commit:

   2e86054b29a9c1ebe16fc246b33adb7c5e771684

So I guess you'll need to patch brltty-6.7 with this commit.
