Hi Dave,
CC: The list for others benefit too.
Thanks so much for telling me about the brltty-term script it is very
helpful and almost works perfectly for me.
A few issues that I'm wondering are known bugs or if there are work
around for?
As a side note I changed the sudo variable inside the script to the empty
string "" as I was able to run BRLTTY as my user from my chromebook and it
still seemed to work fine. If I used sudo I was having problems with
permissions trying to start emacs.
I also experimented with brltty-term bash, brltty-term screen and
brltty-term tmux and got mostly the same results.
1. When I open emacs and I open a shell within emacs any commands I
enter there do nothing e.g. just hang. I also only see "$" when I use
brltty-term screen or brltty-term tmux (I guess it is using sh not bash).
Even if I run /bin/bash after the brltty-term command it doesn't help
although I do see the full prompt with my username at hostname. I can enter
commands in the terminal just fine outside of emacs and see the result on
my Braille display. Any thoughts on how to make the emacs shell work?
2. Occasionally when I am reading a long buffer AKA file in emacs the
lines go out of sync e.g. the Braille display is showing me some other text
on screen not the currently selected line which I can verify with
emacspeak. It seems sometimes it might be one or two lines below what is
selected, but hard to pinpoint the pattern. Other times it shows the
correct line. Is this a known problem?
3. Cursor routing keys don't work at all. I can certainly live with
this, but just checking it is expected.
Thanks again for your help here. It is very exciting that we can now use
BRLTTY to program from a Chrome device!
