Are you using TalkBack's braille or are you using brltty itself?
TalkBack braille uses brltty's drivers, plus a bit of its core in order to make that work, but uses a Google-developed front-end.

Are you referring to changing the active text and/or contraction table? If you're using brltty then you can do that from brltty's General Settings page. If you're using braille via TalkBack then I'm assuimg that it must have a Braille Settings page, and the brltty.conf file wulldn't be involved.

Braille via TalkBack is probably using LibLouis tables. LibLouis doess have both an 8-dot and a 6-dot table for French computer braille, though, but maybe TalkBack isn't offering either or both of those. Or, maybe, since LibLouis doesn't have a Grade 1 French table, what they're calling Grade 1 might be the 6-dot computer braille table.

Okay, I guess you're using braille via TalkBack. I, hopefully udnerstandably, only use brltty directly but I'll have a look at TalkBack's Braille Settings page to see what it offers.
