tmux, from the little I know of it, appears to implement a client-server 
architecture. Maybe BRLTTY could implement a "screen driver" in BRLTTY's 
parlance that actually implements the tmux protocol and presents itself 
as a tmux client. That would be a bit like the old GNU screen patch 
except much better architected. Plus tmux is actively maintained if 
accommodations were needed.
