Something to bear in mind, which I myself consider to be very important, is that installing brltty and having it just work is crucial for a non-expert user. Making it too complicated simply increases the probability that a braille user won't have a "screen".

That can already be done. While it isn't distributed that way for Linux, it has to be done that way for Android. On aAndroid, there's top-level Java which loads a JNI bridge (first library) so that it can call functions in the core (second library).

It's never that simple. Whenever we'd want to add some feature, we'd have to update both pieces and then add more complexity to support either piece being newer than the other.
