[BRLTTY] BRLTTY appears severely broken

I work with a handy tech basic braille 40 and a braille sense qwerty and one of those little humanware ereaders from the nls.
The no screen thing was on the latest arch iso as I mentioned in my first message.
I have lightdm and mate installed, with xorg, no wayland.
