But that works already. Why should we restrict it to that? Why not let it also work from somewhere in the middle in case finding the start is hard?

Sure, and I've also had cases where the start isn't obvious.

It isn't that I'm not comfortable with it - it's that I don't like it. Those aren't the same things.
