I'd find it awesome. But I think you had, at least at the time when you
implemented this logic, very strong reasons to do so, hadn't you?
I seem to remember that it was for not breaking backward compatiblity on
some devices, or maybe for consistency reasons with the bindings in
contexts other than the use with BRLTTY?
