Then let's fix it. Later you talk about going back to an older version of brltty, which is counter to how I think. If it became broken then it should become fixed.
Please collect two logs - one with the older working brltty and one with the newer broken brltty. For each, press keys in a defined order, starting with some that work, then with those that don't work, and finally with more that work. Be sure to let us know which order you pressed the keys in.
Use the -L (uppercase) option to specify the file where the log should be written, and -l (lowercase) to specify the log categories to enable. The categories should be: debug,brldrv,inpkts,outpkts
