<p>In the BRLTTY Preferences menu, change the Braille Variant to
Contracted Braille, and remember to enable save on Exit.</p>
<p>On my display, the command to enter the Preferences menu is dots
1-2-3-4 + Space (i.e., p-chord, if you're familiar with that
terminology).<br>
