This shouldn't happen if you log in as root and run run-brltty directly. Could you please verify that you tried it exactly this way?<br>

This should be fixable. First, could you try removing the libncursesw5-dev package? If that works then try installing libncurses-dev. If that works then edit Tools/reqpkgs.d/debian, find the line that says libncursesw5-dev, remove the w5 part, and save the file. Then run reqpkgs.<br>

If all of this is successful then you'll need th configure brltty again to pick up the change. Then do the make.<br>
