It doesn't hurt to be thorough but I bet ncurses-term was all you needed.<br>

Try one of these approaches:<br>

* Log in as root and run it.<br>
* Run it via sudo but add brltty's -z option. So: sudo run-brltty -z<br>

That's fine and is expected as you aren't invoking the installed brltty via systemd.<br>
