First, install the subversion package from your Linux distribution (I'm
assuming you're running Linux; if not you'll probably have to download and
compile Subversion from source).

Next, follow the instructions at
http://www.mielke.cc/brltty/download.html#repository
to check out a copy of the source repository.

If you don't have autoconf already installed you'll have to obtain and install
it. Again, on Linux or FreeBSD this should be easy as a package should be
available.

Then run ./autogen from the top-level brltty directory, followed by
./configure
make
etc. as usual.
