Thank you for that. Getting it to show the cursor has definitely helped
a lot, but it would be nice if the authors implement some or all of the
changes you listed.

I sent a note to the tmsnc maintainer, and he replied that, in a few
days when he gets back home, he'll have a look at the cursor placement
problems. I've made the following suggestions to him:

The cursor should be placed in a meaningful position when window
selection is made via the tab key.

It's not obvious that the Enter key needs to be pressed to open the
toolbar menus so it'd be nice if each menu would open automatically when
selected.

There should be a different Alt+ shortcut for each item in the toolbar,
so
Alt+f should go to Files, Alt+a should go to Actions, Alt+c should go to
Contacts, and Alt+s should go to Status.

When in a menu, the first letter of its name (without the Alt key)
should be a shortcut for selecting it, e.g. when in the Files menu the
letter q should be a shortcut for Quit.

While all the fore-going would be equally useful for sighted users, my
last suggestion illustrates where there's sometimes a difference so I
don't know what he'll do with it. When in a menu, moving to the right or
left, for those of us partial single line viewers, should go back up to
the header rather than to whichever item in the adjacent menu happens to
be on the same line.

I hope, with so many suggestions at one time, he won't feel overloaded.
:-)
