This is weird. "Bedawin" is in both Ben-Hur and in books by John Buchan and 
Rose Macaulay, yet it isn't anywhere at dictionary.com. They do have Bedouin 
(which I think is the spelling you gave originally) and the first syllable 
is "bed", not "be". So there is no syllable boundary being crossed.
