I have no experience with Debian yet so I cannot compare.

My experience with RHEL 4/5 leaves something to be desired.  If you want to build a kernel and have it run then I would stick with Fedora!

But the guys on this list seem to favor Debian so that might be the direction you would consider going.  I am serious looking at it.
