[BRLTTY] getimeofday and rdate?

I dont fully understand all this yet, but I have a suspicion the
hangs in the TSI driver actually come from the TSI driver directly
making use of gettimeofday().  I am not sure changing asyncWait() would
help aynthing at all with the particular problem I reported above.
