Thank you very much. This patch has now been added to the development stream. I 
like the fact that it's not even (autoconf) release-dependent.

clearly what's been done.

That's what I get for trying to figure things out without using the 
documentation. :-)

Thank you for figuring that out. I'm sure it'd have taken me qutie some time to 
do the same.

A nice macro. Maybe I knew about m4_defn() at one time, but I don't recall it. 
It's certainly useful.
