[BRLTTY] 32 or 64 BIT systems

Hi,

I just purchased a 64 BIT computer and it came with Windows Vista. I am
planning on using Windows 7, when it comes out. However, it would be fun to
try Linux. What version would you recommend I try? As you can pretty much
tell by my questions, I am new to all this.

Does it matter if the machine has a 64 bit chip? Can I run 32 bit operating
systems such as Windows or Linux on it and have applications and peripherals
operate fine? It is fine if it can not recognize all 8 Gigs of the memory,
but will it run as expected?

If this subject is too far off topic and there is another list where this
would be more appropriate, please let me know.

Thanks,

Keith
