The Alva BC640 contains a USB stick. It actually contains two USB storage 
devices. Don't worry about Linux detecting them. It's not seeing them instead 
of the braille display, but, rather, it's seeing them because they're there.

Earlier versions of the Alva BC640 firmware and the Linux kernel didn't get 
along very well. The problem has been fixed, though, so a firmware upgrade of 
your Alva may resolve the problem. Which version of the firmware do you 
currently have?

Yes, that's exactly what the problem looks like when the older Alva firmware is 
being used.
