I've had problems with USB and hibernation as well, even
with a native USB device (not a serial adaptor). For my HandyTech
Braille Star 40, I found I have to use bluetooth to get hibernation to
work properly. A reconnect on USB fails, but reconnecting
via bluetooth works *if* I properly disable my bluetooth
HCI before hibernation (scripted).
