Do BrailleLite controls like the advance bars truly not work, or is it just 
that the content of the display isn't changing. One way to test this might be 
to press an advance bar until you should be at the top/bottom of the screen to 
see if you can then hear those alert tunes. Another test you might try is 
typing something in keyboard emulation mode, and then switching away from and 
back to that screen to check if the output has actually been typed. When in 
lynx, for example, you might try typing the letter o to test if that brings up 
lynx's options page.
