[quoted lines by Nicolas Pitre on 2012/05/17 at 02:12 -0400]

>Well, whitespaces should always be announced, whether it is with silence
>(the behavior that BRLTTY had implemented for many years already) or
>with explicit denomination.
>
>So either inserted characters are spoken, or they're not. Either new
>lines are spoken, or they're not. And so on. This includes all
>characters, including spaces or empty lines.

That indeed sounds like a good general statement, but is it always true? Let's
say, for example, that both inserted characters and new lines are to be spoken.
Isn't it possible that a user might want inserted spaces to be silent but blank
new lines to be spoken?

>Speaking characters/lines and continuing to speak same character/line when
>moving to a space or empty line is very confusing.

Yes, I understand that.
