I don't think that necessary. I don't even think that seconds should be shown,
but that just my preference. I would display the time/date on the display for a
fixed length, 5 seconds is standard in other screen readers. If seconds tick or
not is not that important. Have you already implemented the feature to show the
date/time on the display? It doesn't come up with the latest SVN revision.
