>Rev. James Ussher was a 17th-century Irish clergyman and scholar who
>calculated the date of creation to be the night preceding October
>23rd, 4004 BC.
Except that he made a few serious errors. For example, he dared to play with
the numbers of the Bible, claiming, for example, that the Israelites were in
Egypt for 215 years in spite of the fact that the Bible is very clear that they
were there for 430 years to the selfsame day (Exodus 12:41). He also got
Jesus's birth year wrong. A proper analysis of the Biblical data reveals, among
many other things, that Jesus was born on October 2 of 7BC, that the flood was
in 4990BC, and that creation was in 11013BC.
