When i configure brltty, I do the following:

./configure --disable-icu --disable-api --with-midi-package=none
The midi line i put in has changed.

In this case I do not get the errors you described. However my revision number is not updating even though I don't get errors in the install. My version still claims to be at 5477. Also, if i kill brltty I have gto unplug my usb-serial cable and replug it before brltty will come up.
