Yes, that's okay. The meaning of system error 16, which you can read in the log 
right after the number, is "device or resource busy". That means that brltty 
can't take control of the device because it's already under the control of 
something else (in this case, vmware). That's exactly what you want.

Okay, maybe you're wanting something else. Are you wanting vmware to only 
control the braille device when you're in its virtual console, and for Linux to 
take the control back when you're in any other virtual console?
