There are many. It all depends on what you want

For the command line: nmh and mailx (very different from each other).

For the console: Alpine, Mutt and probably more.

For Emacs: vm, Gnus, NotMuch and others.

For graphical desktop environments: Thunderbird, Evolution, Clawsmail, KMail,
etc.

For the Web: Squirrelmail, the Web-based version of Alpine, etc.

That isn't a comprehensive list.
