[BRLTTY] Hints for "modern" audio setup?

Agreed, but unless BRLTTY can intercept the console beep event, I don't 
think there's anything it can do about it.  A quick Google search gave 
me this:

In any case, it would still be a good idea not to run BRLTTY as root 
regardless.
