It's not possible to know what the problem is when more than one component is
changed at the same time. It's doubtful that brltty's espeak speech driver is
at fault since it hasn't been changed (unless, maybe, the original version was
very old).
Please first test brltty's latest espeak speech driver with espeak rather than
with espeak-ng.
One possibility, for example, is that espeak defaults to some amount of
expressiveness whereas espeak-ng defaults to no expressiveness.
