On my system, coredumpctl is installed and the core dumps apparently go to the
systemd journal.

I haven't yet used coredumpctl, but looking at its manual page suggests you
can use coredumpctl dump to extract core dumps to a file.

I suggest reading the manual page and a little experimenting.
