[BRLTTY] track screen pointer not working

Just compiled (autogen, configure, make) 5.6.
I now have two versions of brltty on my desktop.
When I start 5.6 and go to the preferences menu, it says track screen pointer is set to yes.
But The braille display still jumps every time a new message comes into the irc program.
I was under the impression that this new feature keeps the screen still until I move it?

Ubuntu 16.04.4, amd x86/64, braille sense u2.
