Oh wait. I sent the first email from my bs6. I bet the ipad has it set right?

Hi:

Please correctly set your emapl name as "gmail" doesn't tell us who you are. It makes your message look like spam which could risk us ignoring it.

Why such an old release (we're up to 6.9.1)? Which kind of braille device do you have. Perhaps, for example, 6.7 doesn't yet include support for it.

Please tell us what you've done so far.

This behaviour hasn't been reported before. My guess, though, given that you're getting the word "text", is that it's the partial message "screen not in text mode". If that's the case, my guess is that you're booting to a graphical display, rather than a text console, and that Xisn't running at all or maybe it is but orca isn't running. What happens if you switch to a text console?

There are seven active lines in your configuration file. They are:

 braille-driver auto # autodetect
braille-device usb: # First USB device matching braille driver.
text-table en-nabcc # English (North American Braille Computer Code)
 braille-parameters tt:Columns=40 # [1-80]
 braille-parameters vs:DisplaySize=40 # [20-40]
 braille-parameters xw:Columns=40 # [1-80]
 screen-driver lx # Linux

These look okay except that I'm wondering why you have those three braille-parameter lines. What are they for?
