Linux is Linux, whether it's an RPI or some other platform. I don't have a monitor on my system, either.

No, that shouldn't be necessary. Anyway, you sent me a copy of your brltty.conf a while ago and I don't recall any uncommented screen-related entries. Perhaps you could send an up-to-date copy of it.

Do you actually set the Linux screen driver's fallbackText= paramter to "text"? If ys, why? If no, where might that setting be coming from. It certainly isn't the default. The default is to show the actual screen reading problem. If you do set it then perhaps you can comment just that one out to see what you then get.
